Trophy Fish Caught
The Rochester region is currently producing world-class action for those seeking a true trophy fish. Recent highlights include a surge of massive Steelhead and "football" Brown Trout in the Genesee River and Sandy Creek, with many fish pushing past the 15-pound mark. Our specialized gear and local knowledge have led to incredible success with fresh-run fish holding in the deeper pools. Additionally, our international expeditions continue to land breathtaking tropical fish in Xcalak, Mexico, including permit and bonefish on the fly. These record-class catches are a testament to the elite-level guiding we provide across all our destinations.
Family-Friendly Fishing Adventures
At Wayfound Outdoors, we believe that the best memories are made together, which is why we specialize in family-friendly fishing trips. Our excursions are designed to be fun, easy-going, and educational for anglers of all ages. Safety is our absolute priority; we provide all necessary life jackets, high-quality kid-friendly tackle, and constant supervision to ensure a worry-free environment. Whether it's a calm afternoon chasing perch or a milestone "first catch," our goal is to build confidence and character in young anglers while providing parents with a relaxing, professional experience on the water.
Fishing Year-Round in Rochester
One of the greatest advantages of our region is the ability to enjoy fishing year-round regardless of the season. In the spring, we transition from ice fishing for perch and pike to high-energy shoreline trolling for Salmon. Summer brings deep-water Lake Ontario action, while the fall and winter months offer legendary river runs for Steelhead. Our services are reliable through every temperature swing because we adapt our techniques—from downrigging to float fishing—to match the seasonal behavior of the fish. No matter when you visit, Wayfound Outdoors has a proven game plan to get you on the bite.

Patrick's Rochester Creek Adventure Delivers Epic Brown Trout!
Action-packed day from the get-go! Patrick and I hit the Rochester waters for some spring trout action during the early morning hours. Partly cloudy skies made for perfect conditions as we geared up for our Wade In. Slow Down. Come Back Different. adventure with Wayfound Outdoors.
Once the stage was set, we focused on wade fishing and fly fishing techniques that work so well in these Rochester creek systems. Patrick landed some solid brown trout throughout our regular run, and the creek fishing approach really paid off. Rochester's waters are perfect for this kind of hustle - the current breaks and structure give trout plenty of spots to hold. We wrapped up with some quality fish and that upstate vibe that keeps anglers coming back.
